Radio silence

I'm sorry to have dropped off the radar for the last few weeks. There has been a lot going on -- mostly the run-of-the-mill insanity and logistical challenges inherent in running a family of this size, but we've also been working out some specific kid-behavior issues, and dealing with various colds and illnesses at the same time. It's taken all of my mental energy, and will continue to do so for a bit longer; I would appreciate whatever good thoughts you could send us as we slog our way through.

As always, when the going gets tough around here, I escape by picking up my knitting; in this case, finishing up the Postwar Mittens (Ravelry link) I started back in September.

Once I started on the second mitten, I had to wonder why on earth I'd ever put this project down ... the pattern and charts are easy to follow and the yarn (Dale Baby Ull) a joy to work with. I love these mittens madly, so much so that I've already bought the yarn for a second pair. I will use different colors, and one of the alternate stitch patterns for the palm.

The end result is everything I hoped for.

Very gratifying.
