I turned the heel on the second Sockapaloooza sock at knitting group today.

Ever since Alison noted the way a stupid song from Dora the Explorer's Pirate Adventure could be adapted for sock knitting my brain starts itching as soon as I start short rowing or picking up stitches.
"I'm turning the heel! I'm turning the heel! I'm turning the heeeeeeeeel!!!"
I know, I'm pathetic.

Two summers ago we had the barn on our property restored. The job took almost six months, which was enough time for us to get to know and like the crew. ("I can't afford for them to stay any longer, but I'm going to be really sad to see them go," I told my friend Tanya as the job was wrapping up. "I know," she said sympathetically. "They've become your paid friends.") The guys have been back a couple of times since then ... we have been using them for the issues we have with the house roof and there was a small emergency when we discovered that a corner post on the "good" side of the barn was almost completely rotted through. It's always nice to see them. I'd have them over more often, but craftsmen don't come cheap.
ANYWAY, yesterday I sent them an email to schedule the spring work on the house roof, and was told that the man who does most of the work on our property is taking some time off because he and his wife just had a baby, but that he can come by next week.
You know what that means. Either this:

or this:

or both. I can't decide.

The Young'un is feeling pretty chuffed because he got to come to the rescue twice today. First he accidentally came home with someone else's lunch box in his backpack, and we had to rush back to school to return it before the child went hungry. Then he got to be the one to put water in the poor, thirsty dog's dish.
"I am the Hero of the Lunch Box AND the Hero of the Dog!"****That's all for now.
