Or maybe that was just me.
Today has been a peaceful, relaxing day at home with just the Young'un, who has been happily occupied with his new Christmas toys. You gotta love a child who can put together and take apart the same puzzle for hours on end, and insists, "I need to do it all myself".
I used this morning's relative quiet to get caught up on my blog reading (have you seen this?!?) and plan my first projects for the Stashalong.
I had no problem deciding where to start. This, my friends, is my sock yarn collection.

Impressive, huh? This is what happens when you
- decide that sock yarn makes the perfect souvenir, and
- discover that there is a lot of Koigu and Lorna's Laces to be had on eBay.
So. I'm kicking off my corner of the Stashalong by knitting socks. First up:
Jaywalkers, using some of Dani's merino sock yarn (in "Ravenclaw") from Sunshine Yarns. They're looking very tiger-ish to me. This is beautiful stuff -- so soft and pettable. I can't wait to wear them. Also in the works:
Whitby, from Nancy Bush's Knitting on the Road, knit in Louet Gems Opal that I bought in Iowa last summer. These are a present for my mother. There's nothing like sticking to a commitment (in this case, not to buy any yarn for three months ... although it's not going to be easy) to give one a self-satisfied little glow ... especially, it should be noted, when both projects also do duty for knit-alongs which were joined with enthusiasm, only to be shunted aside as deadlines loomed.
Not to mention the money I'm going to save over the next few months, which in itself is a very good thing. I'm going to need to have lots of credit available when this thing ends and I can start buying yarn again.
